Online shopping is definitely in order this holiday season. It's all well and good to say but how do you find what you're looking for? Discover new designers and artisans? The internet is vast and Google search has its limits. I give you my little list which brings together artisans from all over Canada to help you buy local.
Your Christmas shows
Most of the shows that usually took place in November and December have adapted for this season and almost all have an online version. You will find your regulars and new discoveries there! This year the One of a Kind Show and the Salon des Métiers d'art are partnering and presenting HERE over 700 Canadian artisans! The lounges signatures have also developed their online store, which will now be permanent! Right now, you're enjoying free shipping on over 10 Canadian items!
Several appeared with the onset of the pandemic in the spring. Finally a quick way to find traders from here. Recently, Le Panier Bleu also has a directory of thousands of products! You will also find physical and online Quebec businesses easily accessible using the search engine.
the site BuyLocalGoods introduces you to small and medium-sized businesses in Quebec. Grouped by themes, it's very easy to navigate and the blog gives you a ton of information on buying locally!
Some local artisan shops have opened an online store following the lockdown. Several already had one before. Find the site of your favorite store and shop from the comfort of your home! I am very fortunate to be distributed in these physical stores which all have an online store: Boutique Articho to Montreal, Pine Boutique in Collingwood and recently Café MRKT to Montreal.
A very special company!
I am very proud to be part of the list of women entrepreneurs represented by Wonderkind. This Toronto-based company offers a very special and personalized 'gift box' service called Wonderkind. Using a quick quiz, a Wonderkind is created just for you with articles from Canadian women entrepreneurs and sent directly to whoever you want. But Wonderkind is much more than that, I strongly invite you to visit their site!
My personal favorites
I am making here a very small list of Quebec and Canadian companies that I particularly like:
-Jasper wild is a Montreal company that creates magnificent jewelry with a delicate and refined look. Difficult to choose, each novelty becomes my favorite!
-Based in Toronto Tj Indigo Clothing Co offers a great variety of clothing and many other items made from natural fibers hand dyed with indigo. Each piece is unique and the craftsmanship is impeccable!
-The designer Pascale viau manufactures in its workshop in Montreal a range of clothes with recovered fabrics. Everything is in small quantities or even unique piece. Comfortable and stylish collections!
-A newcomer to the world of men's accessories; Les Cuirs Pilon just launched its collection of small leather goods just a few weeks ago. Items entirely in leather in a classic style with a geek touch!
-I discovered her thanks to Instagram and immediately fell in love with her products! Ceramic objects from Pascale Atelier soothe the soul and are simply sublime!
Hope to have simplified your online shopping this season!
ps The overabundance of the first name Pascale in my personal list is a coincidence, I swear it!
